Article Processing Charges

Semarang Law Review (SLR) welcomes all article submissions. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s publication standards may be subject to an article processing charge (APC), as determined by the Editorial Team.

The APC applied by SLR is variable and assessed on a case-by-case basis. Therefore, the journal does not impose a fixed or standardized publication fee.

Transparency and Disclosure of Fees

SLR ensures full transparency regarding publication fees:

  • All applicable charges will be clearly communicated to the author(s) prior to publication.
  • No fees will be charged at the submission stage.
  • Authors will be informed of the total cost and its components before confirming their agreement to proceed with publication.
  • There are no hidden charges beyond those explicitly stated and agreed upon.
  • The editorial decision process is conducted independently of any financial considerations.

Structure of Publication Fees

Where applicable, the APC may consist of several components, depending on the needs of the manuscript and services required:

  • Editorial and Processing Fee
Covers manuscript handling, peer-review management, editorial evaluation, and production workflow.
  • Language Editing / Proofreading (Optional)
Applied only if the manuscript requires linguistic improvement to meet publication standards.
  • Layout and Typesetting Fee
Covers formatting, citation styling, and preparation of the final publication-ready version.
  • Fast-Track Review (Optional)
An optional service for expedited peer review and editorial decision, subject to editorial approval and reviewer availability.
  • Additional Services (if applicable)
Includes special formatting, extensive revisions, or other author-requested services, which will be communicated in advance.

All fee components are optional or conditional, except for the standard editorial processing component required for publication.

Waiver Policy

As part of its institutional commitment, students of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Semarang, are granted a full exemption from article publication fees, subject to verification and compliance with editorial requirements.

The Editorial Team may also consider partial or full waivers on a discretionary basis, particularly in cases of financial hardship or for authors from underrepresented regions.

Open Access Statement

For libraries and individual readers, access to all published articles is free. This journal does not impose any subscription or access fees. SLR is published exclusively in an online format and does not produce print editions.
