Copyright and Licensing Policy

In the 2026 edition, Semarang Law Review (SLR) firmly establishes that the copyright of all published articles remains with the authors. This policy is consistently reflected in each issue of the journal, which explicitly states that authors retain full ownership of their intellectual work. By submitting and publishing in this journal, authors grant the journal only a non-exclusive right of first publication, without transferring copyright ownership to the publisher.

All articles published in SLR are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution–ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0). This license allows others to copy, distribute, remix, transform, and build upon the material, including for commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the author(s) and the original publication in this journal is acknowledged. Any derivative works must be distributed under the same license.

As part of the publication process, the journal requires an Author’s Declaration of Originality, which must be signed by at least one author as confirmation that the submitted manuscript is original and that all co-authors (if any) have given their consent. This requirement ensures academic integrity and the authenticity of the scholarly work.

Furthermore, authors are permitted to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the published version of their work, such as depositing it in an institutional repository or republishing it in a book, provided that the original publication in SLR is clearly acknowledged. This policy reflects the journal’s commitment to open access principles, transparency, and the protection of authors’ intellectual property rights.
