Journal Juridisch is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Master of Law Program at Universitas Semarang. The journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all necessary measures to prevent publication malpractice. This statement outlines the ethical behavior expected of all parties involved in the article publication process, including in cases of alleged research misconduct, involving authors, the editor-in-chief, the editorial board, peer reviewers, and the publisher. This statement refers to the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication
The publication of articles in a peer-reviewed journal is an essential component in building a coherent and respected body of knowledge. It reflects the quality of the authors’ work and the institutions supporting them. Peer-reviewed articles uphold and embody the scientific method. Therefore, it is crucial to agree upon ethical standards expected of all parties involved in the publishing process: authors, journal editors, peer reviewers, publishers, and the academic community.
As the publisher of Journal Juridisch, the Master of Law Program at Universitas Semarang takes seriously all stages of the publication process and acknowledges its ethical responsibilities. The publisher is committed to ensuring that editorial decisions are not influenced by advertising, reprints, or other commercial revenue. The Editorial Board will assist communication with other journals or publishers when necessary.
Allegations of Research Misconduct
Research misconduct includes fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or plagiarism in conducting, writing, or reviewing research. If an author is found to have committed research misconduct or other serious irregularities, the editor is responsible for safeguarding the accuracy and integrity of the scientific record.
In cases of suspected misconduct, the Editor and Editorial Board will follow COPE best practices in resolving complaints. Manuscripts proven to contain misconduct will be rejected. If a published article is found to be problematic, a retraction linked to the original article will be issued. Authors’ institutions are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into allegations of scientific misconduct. By addressing suspected misconduct appropriately—through corrections, retractions, or article replacements—Journal Juridisch maintains the validity and integrity of the scientific record.
Publication Decisions
Editors of Journal Juridisch are responsible for deciding which articles should be published, based on the validity of the work and its relevance to researchers and readers. Editorial decisions must adhere to the journal’s policies and comply with applicable legal requirements, including those concerning defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.
Complaints and Appeals
Journal Juridisch has clear procedures for handling complaints related to the journal, editorial staff, the editorial board, or the publisher. These may include complaints regarding editorial processes, citation manipulation, unfair treatment by editors or reviewers, peer-review manipulation, and similar matters. Fair Play
Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit, without regard to the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, nationality, or political beliefs.
Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisers, and authorized publisher representatives.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript may not be used in the editor’s own research without the author’s written permission.
Post-Publication Discussions and Corrections
Journal Juridisch welcomes discussions and corrections regarding published articles. Readers may submit comments or corrections to the Editor-in-Chief via email with a clear explanation. If approved, such discussions or corrections will be published as a Letter to the Editor in the next issue. Authors of the original article may respond, and their comments will be published as a Reply to the Letter to the Editor.
