Statement of Originality (Plagiarism Policy)

1. Policy Overview and Commitment to Integrity

Jurnal Transformatika is committed to upholding the highest standards of scientific integrity, academic honesty, and publication ethics. The journal enforces a zero-tolerance policy regarding plagiarism, text recycling (self-plagiarism), data fabrication, falsification, and uncredited generative AI content.

All submitted manuscripts are subjected to rigorous anti-plagiarism screening prior to double-blind peer review. Authors are required to submit a signed and stamped Statement of Originality alongside their manuscript to confirm compliance with these ethical standards.

2. Definition of Plagiarism and Academic Misconduct

Jurnal Transformatika adopts the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) definitions regarding scientific misconduct. The journal explicitly prohibits the following practices:

  • Verbatim Plagiarism: Copying text, figures, tables, code, or mathematical formulations directly from another source without using quotation marks and providing appropriate citation.
  • Inadequate Paraphrasing: Summarizing or altering sentence structures from prior publications while retaining the core ideas or phrasing without proper attribution.
  • Text Recycling (Self-Plagiarism): Reusing significant portions of the author’s own previously published text, data, or findings without explicit cross-referencing and justification.
  • Data Fabrication and Falsification: Inventing fake research data, manipulating experimental figures, or selectively omitting results to distort scientific outcomes.
  • Uncredited Generative AI Usage: Generating research text, computer code, or literature citations using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) without transparent disclosure in the manuscript's AI declaration section.

3. Similarity Screening and Threshold Policy

To maintain rigorous editorial standards, all incoming submissions are screened using automated similarity-detection software (Turnitin / iThenticate):

  • Maximum Similarity Threshold: Submissions must exhibit an overall text similarity score of below 20%.
  • Contextual Human Assessment: A similarity score alone does not constitute a finding of plagiarism. Editors conduct a contextual human evaluation to assess the location, nature, and attribution of any overlapping text (e.g., distinguishing standard methodology descriptions or common terminology from uncredited copying).
  • Desk Rejection Rule: Manuscripts exceeding the 20% similarity threshold or containing uncredited verbatim copying will be rejected immediately during desk screening without external peer review.

4. Mandatory Statement of Originality Requirements

To confirm ethical compliance, authors must submit an official, legally binding Statement of Originality during the initial submission process.

A. Document Specifications

  1. Official Template Usage: Authors must prepare the document using the official Jurnal Transformatika Statement of Originality Template.
  2. Duty Stamp Requirement: The signed form must feature a Rp10,000 Indonesian Duty Stamp (Meterai Tempel Rp10.000 / e-Materai) affixed over the signature of the Corresponding Author.
  3. Mandatory Signatures: The document must be physically or digitally signed by the Corresponding Author on behalf of all listed co-authors.

B. Key Declarations Covered in the Form

By signing the form, authors formally declare that:

  • The manuscript represents original work and does not infringe upon any third-party copyrights or intellectual property rights.
  • The manuscript has not been published previously (in whole or in part) and is not currently under consideration by any other journal.
  • All listed co-authors have substantively contributed to the research (following CRediT taxonomy) and approved the final manuscript version.
  • Generative AI usage (if any) has been fully disclosed in accordance with Jurnal Transformatika’s AI Policy.
  • Research funding sources and potential conflicts of interest have been transparently disclosed.

5. Mandatory File Uploads During OJS Submission

During Step 2 (Upload Submission) of the OJS submission workflow, authors must upload the following two (2) separate documents combined into one (1) file (Format PDF) under Article Component: Statement of Originality:

  1. Signed Statement of Originality (PDF): The completed form, bearing the Rp10,000 duty stamp and author signatures,
  2. Turnitin Similarity Report (PDF or Capture): The full digital report or clear screenshot of the Turnitin similarity check (showing a similarity score < 20%).

6. Investigation and Sanctions for Plagiarism

If plagiarism or academic misconduct is identified at any stage of the editorial process, Jurnal Transformatika will take prompt corrective action in accordance with COPE guidelines:

  • Pre-Publication Discovery: The manuscript will be immediately rejected, and the authors may be barred from submitting future work to Jurnal Transformatika for a period of up to 3 years.
  • Post-Publication Discovery: If severe plagiarism or data falsification is proven after publication:
    1. A formal Retraction Notice will be published and bidirectionally linked to the article;
    2. The original PDF will remain accessible for academic transparency but will be permanently watermarked with "RETRACTED" on every page;
    3. The author's host institution or funding agency may be officially notified.
