Abstract

The MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition) industry is a strategic sector in driving economic growth, promoting cultural values, and strengthening regional identity. However, the increasing frequency of event implementation presents sustainability challenges encompassing environmental, social, and economic aspects. This study aims to analyze the application of Sustainable Event principles in the implementation of the Surabaya Great Expo (SGE) 2024, organized by PT Debindo Mitra Tama, based on four key aspects outlined in ISO 20121:2024, namely environmental, socio-cultural, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and economic dimensions. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method. The results indicate that SGE 2024 demonstrates awareness of sustainability principles; however, its implementation remains partial and not fully aligned with the ISO 20121:2024 standard.
