Abstract

Scientific literacy is a fundamental competency that should be developed among students to enable them to adapt to the evolving learning environment in the digital era. Nevertheless, students' competence in producing scientific papers still requires significant improvement. In addition, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a supporting tool in the learning process has not yet been optimally implemented. This community service program aimed to enhance students' scientific literacy at SMA Negeri 1 Mranggen through AI-assisted training in scientific writing and to introduce the ethical use of digital technology in academic writing. The program was implemented through several stages, including the delivery of instructional materials, demonstrations of AI applications, interactive discussions, hands-on scientific writing practice, and learning outcome assessments using pre-tests and post-tests. A total of 60 students from SMA Negeri 1 Mranggen participated in the program. The analysis of learning outcomes revealed that the participants' average score increased from 52.73 before the training to 91.73 after the training. Furthermore, the calculated N-Gain value of 0.825 indicates a high level of improvement. These findings demonstrate that the training was effective in improving students' understanding of the structure of scientific papers, the use of AI as a writing support tool, and scientific literacy in general. The integration of AI technology into scientific writing training has the potential to become an innovative instructional approach for strengthening students' academic competencies in the digital era. The outcomes of this program help accelerate the adoption of digital technology in schools while encouraging the educational community to use AI ethically.
