Abstract

This research aims to understand the meaning of power contained in song lyrics. This research is based on Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic theory using signified and signified analysis. This analysis is used to obtain findings to build people's imagination in understanding song lyrics. The results of this research show that song lyrics during the New Order era were used as a tool to influence public opinion. Apart from that, song lyrics are also often used as education and as a means of expanding networks and understanding regarding the implementation of work programs carried out in the New Order era.
