This study presents the development and preliminary functional evaluation of an Internet of Things (IoT)-based vannamei shrimp sorting prototype integrating an ESP32 microcontroller, a load cell with an HX711 module, a TCS34725 color sensor, an infrared obstacle sensor, a conveyor, servo actuators, and a web monitoring system. The prototype implements rule-based sorting using measured weight and the normalized red-channel proportion obtained from RGB sensor readings. The infrared sensor triggers the color-reading and sorting sequence, while the ESP32 directs objects into three predefined output categories. Data are transmitted to a PHP/MySQL-based web monitoring system for recording and visualization. Based on 20 preliminary trials reported for each evaluated component and the sorting mechanism, the agreement with the original functional test criteria was 95% for the load cell, 100% for infrared detection, 85% for color classification, and 90% for the physical sorting mechanism. These percentages describe preliminary functional test outcomes rather than independently validated measurement or freshness-classification accuracy. In particular, the color-based categories have not been verified against independent shrimp freshness assessments. The findings demonstrate the implementation feasibility of sequential sensor-actuator integration and digital monitoring while highlighting the need for reference-based measurement validation, larger-scale testing, and independent freshness assessment.
