Partisipasi Masyarakat Dalam Pelayanan KB Di Kelurahan Bangunharjo

Abstract

The KB program is one of the government's strategies to suppress population growth, maintain reproductive health, and adjust the number of children to the family's economic capacity. Various contraceptive methods have been provided, but their implementation in the community still encounters a number of obstacles such as lack of awareness, low understanding, and the influence of local customs and culture. This study aims to determine the level of community participation in the implementation of the KB program in Bangunharjo Village, Central Semarang District. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study showed that out of 157 Fertile Age Couples (PUS), 141 people were active participants in KB. Although the participation rate is relatively high, several obstacles were still found, such as fear of side effects, unequal understanding, and minimal involvement of men. Cultural factors and family support also influence decision making. Therefore, stronger collaboration is needed between the government, health workers, and the community to increase the effectiveness of the KB program, through ongoing education, easily accessible services, and more intensive interpersonal communication.
